Made possible by a generous grant from the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation, the Lurie Cancer Center invites fellows and residents to apply for the Lynn Sage Symposium Travel Awards, which will take place in conjunction with the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Symposium.
This program provides fellows and residents with the opportunity to attend one of the most respected breast cancer meetings in the country, learn about the latest clinical and scientific advances in breast cancer research, collaborate with esteemed colleagues in the field, and meet breast cancer experts from around the world.
Program Objectives
Empower domestic early-career clinicians with access to one of the world's most respected breast cancer meetings, fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Equip participants with the latest clinically relevant treatment strategies to improve patient care and advance survivorship in their home institutions and communities.
Create a dynamic, interactive forum for networking and mentorship among emerging leaders in breast cancer care for lasting impact.
Provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on how innovative treatment options are developed and implemented in the United States, inspiring breast practices worldwide.
Gain exposure to diverse perspectives in breast cancer care by engaging with peers across medical, radiation, and surgical disciplines.
Eligibility
A limited number of awards will be granted through a competitive online application process
Residents and fellows from the U.S. are encouraged to apply
Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the field of breast cancer (hematology/oncology, surgery, radiation, pathology, etc.)
Awards will be limited to first-time program participants
Awardees must be able to attend the entire program (arrival on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 and departure on Sunday, October 4, 2026)
A letter of support from the applicant’s Program Director or mentor must be received by the application deadline

Complimentary symposium registration (full attendance to all sessions is mandatory)
Roundtrip coach airfare to and from Chicago from awardee's home city
Hotel accommodations for maximum of four nights (non-local awardees only)

* Upon acceptance, awardees will receive specific instructions on how to book their travel and hotel.
The application deadline is Friday, June 12, 2026. Notification e-mails will be sent to all applicants by June 24, 2026. Applicants should not make any travel arrangements until notified.
A letter of support from your Program Director or Mentor is required. Instructions for submitting the letter electronically will be sent to your mentor when you submit your initial application to us. Your application will not be complete until your letter is received. All letters must be received by the deadline of Friday, June 12, 2026.
